RIASP General Membership Meeting

Integrating Social Emotional Learning into our universal instruction, building-wide and district-wide systems, certainly requires strategic leadership.  Using the article “Ten Steps in the Implementation Cycle (Devaney et al 2006) for Implementing SEL” as a discussion framework, Nicole Bucka, Facilitator of Social Emotional Learning for East Providence School District and MTSS Implementation Specialist, will share one district’s process and lessons learned.  In this session the following implementation examples will be illustrated.  

• Establishing a clear district-wide "why" or vision for the work. 
• Completing a needs assessment/audit for the school community.
• Using this audit to inform a district strategic plan.
• Thinking though the support needed to guide the adults in this transformation.
