“Improving Schools through Improving Leadership Opportunity”
National Institute of School Leadership Executive Development Program (NISL)
Presenter: David Osborne – NISL Business Manager and RI State Coordinator- Joined by several RI principals who are in the current training program
A 2004 Wallace Foundation study revealed that principals account for 25% of the variations in student outcomes. This is why Rhode Island's ESSA plan includes an intentional focus on the growth and development of our state's school leaders as a means to fostering school improvement and positive outcomes for students.
Leaders have an opportunity to participate in a year-long research-based program with a goal of improving schools by strengthening leadership. The twelve NISL-EDP units are aimed at enhancing leadership skills, promoting strategic thinking, building instructional leadership capacity, and cultivating evidenced-based school improvement strategies.
Please join RIDE, NISL, and members of the current trainee cohort at the RIASP General Membership Meeting on Tuesday, April 3rd to learn about the NISL-EDP as well as the application process for joining a 2018-2019 cohort.
