After successful completion of this program, approximately twenty new coaches will be matched with interested new and early career principals and provide 30 hours of one-to-one (on-site and virtual) coaching support to the new principals over the course of the upcoming school year. In addition, new principals will be invited to attend a two-day New Principal Bootcamp which will be offered this summer on July 30th and 31st 2019 at RIASP in partnership with DASL.
This Bootcamp will provide new principals strategies that will help focus and prepare them for beginning their school year by tackling such tasks as: identifying and clarifying some of the roles and responsibilities that they are currently facing in their new position; identifying strategies required to develop a personal leadership calendar to guide daily work of a school administrator; developing a 60 day plan to strategically begin the school year; identifying specific goals to be highlighted in communications to students, faculty, families and the community from day one; creating a frame for conversations with staff regarding expected instructional priorities; creating an agenda and opening message for the first staff meeting; and developing a plan to get to know their students and families.
Request for your assistance in order to get RIASP principal coaches matched with interested new and early career principals, we are asking RIASP principals/assistant principals, and RISSA superintendents/assistant superintendents to send us the names and contact information for any principal and/or assistant principal in your district who has been in his/her role for less than four years who you think could benefit from this program.
Please submit the following information via this link as soon as possible.
Name of principal/assistant principal: School Name: Address of School: Email of principal/assistant principal: Phone number of principal/assistant principal:
Once we receive names from you we will follow up with those principals/assistant principals and provide them with registration information. Please note that one piece of the registration will be a sign off from the superintendent that he/she is willing to allow their principal/assistant principal to attend the 2-day New Principal Bootcamp on July 30th and 31st and receive 30 hours of coaching, which includes up to three hours per month to meet with their coach.
In addition, districts will pay an annual fee somewhere between $300 and $700 to cover the coach’s stipend for 30 hours of coaching support and the two-day New Principal Bootcamp for each principal participant. RIASP is making every effort to secure funding to limit the district contribution to just $300 but is unable to guarantee this amount at this time. RIASP will provide coaches to new principals/assistant principals in such a way that the support is equitably spread across all of our RI districts. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Don Rebello (email@example.com), Nicole Letoile (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Mary Canole (email@example.com)
